Welcome to the homepage for the GTA Coach Retreat!  This site will host the latest information for the Retreat, links to register, and images and content from previous events.

The next GTA Coach Retreat will be on Saturday, October 28, 2023.  We are returning to an IN-PERSON event! Which means a return to the FULL DAY event format, with lunch included, so we can practice, practice, practice.  So go register on Eventbrite now!

Our featured speaker will be Joanne Stone.  We are super excited to have her!  She will be talking to us about her passion: Sustain – ability.  Here are her words:

We all have the ability to sustain.  We all want to make ourselves, our teams, our workplaces, our communities, and the world better.  Some are more interested in making the world a better place for themselves, and others may want to do it for the people of the planet.

What is very evident in our world is a climate challenge.  You may or may not feel it, and 8 out of 10 team members are certainly thinking about it.  The challenge is that there is no place to hold conversations about sustainability or climate.  Even when the conversation is opened up, we have conflict.  Not too many people will open up to talk about how this impacts them emotionally and how these emotions can impact our workplace.

Difficult conversations that touch on survival and/or thriving are very hard to discuss in our groups, families, communities, and companies.  Yet these conversations, if not had, can create more challenges within the person, and those around them can feel it.  How do we as Coaches, want to be with those conversations?

As well as these conversations are important to take, we also want to support the outcomes of these conversations.  How can the team, organization, or individual take action?

Coaches are change agents and transformation specialists who help a team, department, or company deliver the desired outcomes and values.  Sustainability for the planet and people is the next level of change that expands past a team or company to serve something that helps the greater good.  As change agents, we understand that change is hard.  This is where our change management and coaching skills have given us the ability to help with the change.

What can we do as coaches to help transform the teams and organizations to support and act upon sustainability?  What will be our stance on sustainability?

In this workshop, we will be doing the following:

      • We uncover the conversations that are not being said about climate and sustainability.
      • We discuss climate’s blame and shame factors and how to overcome them.
      • We discuss the many hats of climate personalities: scientist, optimist,  to gain the wisdom of the different perspectives.
      • We talk about how we can motivate and inspire change by creating action from hope
      • We talk about the different leadership stances we can take while holding the container of change.
      • We talk about what we as leaders in this change, can do next.

Outcome

      • Understand how to have a difficult conversation
      • How can we hear and include all “climate voices.”
      • Understand the role we could play.
      • Understand what we could do next

My bigger agenda for the Community:

      • I want the coaching community to take on this topic because I know they can.
      • We can address the sustainability topic – the sustainability of the human spirit of the planet and of the planet itself.  I am the voice of the sustainability conversation.  This is what the community can take on – my hope, and I know that you can. This is the hungriest topic out there and the biggest opportunity.
      • This is the opening talk.
